THE UX OF FINAL MAJOR PROJECT | BLOG 11
Filming & Final Outcome
14/07/21 – 25/11/21 (about 3 months - excluding summer holidays)
Design Brief: Materialise the obscurity and complexity of the Blockchain System.
Project Member: Yiwei(David) Han, Sue Heeyeon An.
Design Phase
We finished the final assembly and everything was ready to show, but we didn't find a suitable place to exhibit it, and with time constraints, we decided to make a video of this strange rectangle as the final output of our project. We invited three students interested in blockchain systems (Damul, Luchen and sylvester) to participate and chose an empty room, which was not yet occupied, as the location for the shoot.

Reshoot - Improve Details
Based on the last video shoot, I found that the participants lacked an understanding of how to experience and interact with the installation, so I designed a step-by-step guide based on their feedback, which included the order of experience and how to interact at each layer. Secondly, due to the small size of the space, it was not possible to get a more suitable telephoto shot. So this time I invited Gabriel Zhang, a friend from MA documentary, to assist me with the final video of the installation.

New Location
I chose an open area on the ground floor of the school where there were two walls of cabinets, one red and one green, which I thought would be a good place for our installation because from a distance it was really 'invisible' as it blended in with the background. This is very much in line with the idea we wanted to convey in our work: technology is everywhere, but it is difficult for us to spot and observe it. We then began setting up the set, communicating the shooting process and details for the final shoot.
